Our diversity, equity & inclusion commitment

Diversity, equity, and inclusion aren't just a checkbox for us.

It’s the whole point.

Out Front Tours exists because sapphic women, non-binary, and trans travelers deserve to explore the world without having to explain themselves, shrink themselves, or wonder if they're safe. That mission only works if we build equity into every layer of how we operate; not just who we serve, but who we hire, who we platform, and who we give back to.

At a time when so many companies are quietly rolling back DEI commitments — or worse, using them as a marketing veneer with nothing behind it, we want to be direct: that will never be us. DEI isn't a phase, a trend, or a line item we can cut when it's convenient. It's at the forefront of how we run this company, from who we hire, to where our money goes, to fair pay for our team, to how every single person on the ground (travelers and staff alike) understands that intolerance of any kind, whether about race, age, sexuality, or anything else, has no place on our trips.

Here's what that looks like in practice:

Representation Behind the Camera

For every trip, we start by aiming to hire a photographer based in the region we're traveling to. Local eyes telling the story of their own home, or of a place they have heritage from adds a beautiful layer to each tour. When that's not possible, our next priority is hiring BIPOC photographers. Representation matters on both sides of the lens, and we don't treat that as optional.

A Team That Reflects Our Community

Our tour leaders, photographers, and staff are sourced from the very community we serve; sapphic, non-binary, and trans people building experiences for their own community. We're not outsiders curating an experience for you; we're in it alongside you.

Safety Without Sacrificing Visibility

We travel to places across the spectrum of LGBTQ+ acceptance, including destinations where overt queer branding could put travelers or local partners at risk. Our name and public-facing marketing are intentionally built to signal safety to the people who need to see it, while staying discreet where discretion protects our community. Inclusion means access, and access sometimes means nuance.

What Diversity Looks Like on Our Trips

If you look through past trip photos, you might notice that not every group looks racially diverse at first glance. We want to name that directly: diversity comes in many forms — age, nationality, language, life experience, and more — and not all of it is visible in a photo. Every trip we run, we market and welcome everyone in our community. Who ends up joining a particular trip is shaped by a lot of factors outside our control, including timing, destination, and cost. But we want to be clear about our intention: we aim for as much diversity as possible on every trip we run, because we believe it makes the group experience richer, and it makes the world better. A trip that isn't visibly diverse in its photos is not a reflection of who is welcome; everyone is.

Where We're Headed

We're in our first year of business, and we're building this company with intention, which means being honest about what we can't offer yet.

Right now, we don't have trips at every price point. That's something we're actively working toward, so that a group trip with Out Front Tours can be accessible to folks across a wider range of budgets, not just those who can afford our current offerings.

We’re also in the process of platforming a scholarship process. We're in the process of building out a nonprofit arm of Out Front Tours, with the goal of accepting donations that fund a scholarship spot on every trip we run, and to donate a portion of every trip's proceeds to local LGBTQ+ nonprofits in the countries we visit.

Neither of these happens overnight. But they're not aspirational extras, they're part of the roadmap, and we'll share updates as this work develops.

To Everyone Who's Trusted Us So Far

Choosing to travel with a first-year company takes trust, and we don't take that lightly. Every sold-out trip, every returning traveler, every person who told a friend about us, is helping us build out what Out Front Tours will continue to grow and evolve into.

We're not a finished product. We're a community-built company, still growing, still learning, and still figuring out how to do this better every single trip. If you've traveled with Sydney in the past, you've been part of shaping that — and we're grateful for it.

Help Us Build What's Next

This page is a living commitment, not a finished one. If you have ideas on how we can do better, want to get involved in building out our nonprofit arm, or just have feedback, we want to hear it!
